The Christmas lottery winners in this video include:
On Christmas day of 2021, a man won ½ of a million in Canada on the Lotto 6/49 jackpot. Then on Christmas eve of the same year, a Michigan man won $1 million dollars from Mega Millions.
In the EuroMillions, someone won $1 million on Christmas in 2012 and then again in 2016!
On Christmas of 2021, there were 3 Powerball winners matching all 5 white balls, each scoring $1 million! They were from California, South Carolina and Tennessee.
But what about the jackpot? Historically, there are two Powerball jackpot wins on Christmas day.in the USA. One was a $48.8 million dollar win in 2010 with a single winner. The other was a $71.5 million win in 2013 from Kansas City, MO.
In 2002, a West Virginia man hit a record $319 million Powerball jackpot. It was claimed by Jack Whittaker. He took a lump sum payout of $113.4 million after taxes and became an instant lottery celebrity. Unfortunately, he faced some personal setbacks and very public scandals. His home and car were reportedly burglarized, he was at a strip club when thieves stole a briefcase worth $245,000 and his granddaughter and granddaughter’s friend both passed away.
Jack Whittaker did some positive things as well. He started a foundation that spent $23 million building 2 churches, donating food, clothing and scholarships to needy students.
In 2021, a man won $8.9 million dollars from the Oregon Megabucks lottery.
The largest Christmas lottery in the world is the Spanish Christmas lottery. It’s known as El Gordo, which means “the fat one.” It gives away billions each year to millions of people. It’s estimated that around 75% of Spaniards play this festive game, which dates back to over 200 years!
